Witness remnants of the indigenous Aonikenk culture, part of the regional heritage of Patagonia on this trek. The Aonikenk were hunter-gatherer nomads who used the rocks as a canvas to convey messages to one another, which we can still see to this day in the form of cave paintings displayed on rocky outcrops. Learn more about Patagonia History and the indigenous groups who lived in Patagonia.

We start on this Patagonia trail by making our way in a northerly direction towards the Paine Massif which accompanies us throughout our walk, its striking silhouette dominating the skyline of Torres del Paine in Patagonia, Chile. We’ll also get the chance to see some Patagonian wildlife, including guanacos, foxes and maybe a soaring Andean condor. The excursion finishes at the Portería Laguna Amarga, where our van will be waiting to take us back to the Tierra Patagonia lodge for some well-earnt relaxation and pampering.

This is an easy, half-day hike, one of the many options on offer from our team of experienced guides for hiking in Patagonia. Although more challenging, one of the most iconic and popular Patagonia treks is to the Base of the Three Towers in Torres del Paine.

At the Tierra Patagonia adventure and spa hotel, we offer both half-day and full-day guided Patagonia tours and excursions which include hiking, biking, horse-back riding and scenic voyages.
